WARBIRD AIR COMBAT FLIGHTS

THIS IS NOT A SIMULATION!!!

This is the real thing, Top Gun for anyone.

Air to air combat flights are like a joy flight on steroids. Anyone can do it. There is one pilot and one passenger per aircraft, and both aircraft fly together as a formation until in the combat area. Here they split up and begin dogfighting manoeuvres that will have you grinning for days!

Ultimate Combat Flight

$695.00$1,295.00

The only simulation is the fact that we can’t carry live ammunition, so you’ll have to use your imagination for when you get a ‘kill’!

You will be part of the crew as you keep your eyes peeled for the bogey on your 6 o’clock. Experience high G force combat manoeuvring as you shake off the bogey and try to get on his tail, weaving through the clouds high above Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne.

Description

Combat Flights operate from Moorabbin and Barwon Heads Airports in Melbourne. Both locations offer spectacular beach views. Combat Flight events are held approximately once per month.

Two Fighter Planes, two people per fight – experience dogfighting like the aces of yesteryear in real head to head aerial combat. No simulation REAL COMBAT.

Sounds risky?! We have a 100% perfect safety record, our pilots are highly trained and experienced in this specific flight discipline. No one has even broken a finger nail.

Combat Flights take you and a friend or foe 5,000ft above Melbourne in real ex-military fighter aircraft. Loop, zoom and attack your foe in identical aircraft until smoke plumes out and you have a kill!

The ultimate aerial adventure, Combat Flights are more adrenalin pumping than any jet plane ride, this is combat, what all military pilots are trained for and truly relish. Two on two, real fast, for real.

What’s Included?

  • High adrenalin, high G aerial dogfighting!
  • Rare opportunity to experience real combat flight
  • Two aircraft, two combatants, two pilots, the whole sky. For those with one participant (not booking both aircraft) we can match you with another single voucher on the day
  • Super-tough ex-military fighter aircraft, totally original (except no guns)
  • Flights are approximately 30 minutes from engine start to engine stop, allow 1.5 hours for entire experience including briefings, photos and getting in and out of aircraft

Do I Have To Be As Fit As Tom Cruise In Top Gun?

  • S’ok Maverick, you don’t have to hit the gym before your flight
  • No special physical fitness requirements
  • Maximum weight 130kg, height 6’4″ (If you are close to both these limits please call, it may be difficult)
  • Those with serious heart condition, epilepsy or blood pressure problems consult their physician first

Is It Safe?

  • Over 5,000 warbird aerobatic flights, no one has even broken a nail!
  • Aircraft are maintained to, and regulated by the same standards that apply to civilian commercial aviation

How Will Everyone Know I Was A Fighter Pilot Once?

  • We record every flight on 3 separate High Definition cameras, which is then professionally edited to include the in-flight audio, we overlay some music and most importantly make a video that is punchy and entertaining viewing for all. The video is an optional extra, you can even decide after the flight whether you’d like to get the evidence of your daring-do or not

On The Day

  • On the day you will have to fill in a little paperwork, then get a briefing on what the experience involves,
  • Then we go out to the aircraft (can take photos etc out there no hurry) before strapping in to cockpit and getting a safety briefing
  • Next we clear the area, start up and go!

Combat or Aerobatic Flight?

  • Wondering what the difference is between an aerobatic or combat flight? Essentially the combat flight is aerobatics with two aircraft, whereas the aerobatic flight is just one aircraft, so you and the pilot
  • Which one suits better depends on your thrill-seeker level!
  • If a little tentative then we recommend the aerobatic flight as you can talk to the pilot throughout the entire experience and can adjust the intensity level to suit
  • Both experiences start off relatively gently and increase in G forces and intensity, the major difference being that with the combat flight you are following or being followed by another participant so it not as easily tailored to individuals – having said that most combat flight participants are first timers and are absolutely fine

OUR COMBAT FLIGHT CREW

ANATOLE MILLS

Growing up on a farm in Tasmania, Anatole soon decided flying was more fun than chasing cattle and traded in the Blundstones to begin a flying career.

With over 3,000 aerobatic sorties under his belt, Anatole has seen Melbourne as much upside down as right way up. He also flies biplanes and charter for Adventure Flight Co and surfers with King Island Surf Safaris.

A third generation pilot, grandfather Ernest Mills learned to fly in an autogyro in the 1930s and it was in his father’s bush planes that Anatole got the flying bug.

MATTHEW WUILLEMIN

Matt joined the RAAF from school and gained 14 years experience flying Hercules transport aircraft, Boeing 707 VIP tankers and instructing on the Pilatus PC-9 as flown by the Roulettes.

Now an airline captain for over 12 years and currently flying for China Southern on the Airbus 330, Matt will use his 18 000 hours flight experience to make sure you have a safe and enjoyable flight with Combat Flights Melbourne.
