Want to get a great shot of your aircraft in flight for a website, brochure, or news feature? Thinking you could probably get that mate of yours with a SLR camera to come along to get that pic?
Think again. Adventure Flight Co is a victim of such thinking too! For years we stumbled along with average photos taken by amateurs - friends, family etc. The bare facts are this will just not cut it in todays web based market place. Pictures are everything.
Photographer and Graphic Designer Edward Sawers has joined forces with Adventure Flight Co to bring you a skill that is hard won - air to air photography.
Aircraft are expensive to run. There is nothing worse than going up on an air to air photography sortie - organising your mate with the SLR, another pilot, another plane, the right weather and returning with blurry pictures, or propellers that look like the engine has stopped. Air to air photography is a difficult skill, and requires specialist skills in both flying and photography to get good results.
For starters, quite often you have to get close... real close. Flying in formation is a specific rating for pilots, and it is not very common. Adventure Flight Co has three formation rated pilots. This means great flexibility in the type of shot we can get for you.
And when it is all over, the aircraft are on the ground and everyone is grinning about the great shots - the real work is just beginning. Post-production is essential with nearly all photos. Whether it means brighter greens on the trees or reducing the shadow on the aircraft, air to air photography also requires a graphic designers eye to get the best out of the pictures.
Don't print a brochure or build a website with 'ok' pictures. Ultimately it is a waste of time, effort and money - believe us, we have been there! Get it right the first time, get some professionals to help you and in turn look professional yourself.
